Competitor tracking for product managers

Product managers usually hear about a competitor’s launch from a customer, a lost deal, or a sales rep asking whether we can do that too. Spyingbee reads competitors’ changelogs, docs and product blogs for you, sorts each change by what kind of move it is, and sends the week as a brief every Monday, so the launch reaches you before it reaches the deal review.

Real changes Spyingbee detected at companies it tracks publicly, filtered to the kinds product managers act on.

What it does for product managers

Roadmap reviews with evidence

Bring what competitors actually shipped this quarter, each item dated and linked to the changelog entry or docs page it came from, instead of a half-remembered screenshot.

Parity calls that see the pattern

Filter a competitor’s history to launches and feature updates and see which themes they keep returning to. Two rivals shipping the same capability in the same quarter is a market moving; one is an anecdote.

Sunsets nobody announces loudly

Removed features and discontinued products are their own signal type. They are the moves competitors publicize least, and they tell you which of their customers are about to go looking.

What it will not do

It reads what competitors publish, nothing behind a login, and it does not interview their customers. If you need win/loss research or usability teardowns of a product you cannot sign up for, that is a different job.

Questions

How do product managers track competitor features?

Most start with a spreadsheet and a set of bookmarked changelogs, which works until there are more than a handful of competitors. Automated tracking does the reading: Spyingbee reads each competitor’s changelog, pricing page, blog, docs, news feed and product catalogue, checks every source on its own interval (every few hours for pages that keep changing, every few days for quiet ones), and classifies each change it finds, with a link to where it was published. Product managers then filter to launches and feature updates.

Which competitor changes matter to a product manager?

Product launches, feature updates, new integrations and sunsets. Those are the four this page shows live. Pricing and positioning moves matter too, but usually land with product marketing first.

Is it free?

Yes for 3 competitors, with no card. The free plan includes the Monday brief and 30 days of history.
